Build It Yourself Agility Equipment

Free-Standing Lattice Wing / Wing Jump

Equipment
  • Saw, pipe cutter, or sawz-all
  • PVC Cement
  • Drill
  • 5/64" bit
  • Phillips head bit
  • tape measure or yard stick
  • marker
Parts (one pair of wings)
  • 4 pieces 32" x 1" schedule 40 PVC (uprights)
  • 4 pieces 24" x 1" schedule 40 PVC (top/bottom)
  • 4 pieces 10" x 1" schedule 40 PVC (feet)
  • 2 pieces PVC Lattice, approx. 32" x 24" (one 4x8 sheet of PVC lattice makes six wings)
  • 6 1" PVC pipe 90° elbows
  • 4 1" PVC pipe end caps
  • 2 1" PVC 4-Way Tees
  • Jump Cups (optional) - 2 for each height desired
  • #7 x ¾" roundhead or panhead screws
Directions
Frame
  1. Insert two 10" pvc pieces (feet) into base of 4-Way Tee
  2. Insert 24" pvc piece (bottom) into remaining opening of 4-Way Tee
  3. Insert 32" pvc piece (upright) into upright joint of 4-Way Tee
  4. Attach PVC Elbow to top of upright
  5. Attach PVC Elbow to end of bottom piece
  6. Insert 32" pvc piece (upright) into elbow on bottom of wing
  7. Attach PVC Elbow to top of second upright.
  8. Join uprights with 24" pvc top piece
  9. Remove feet, place dab of PVC cement inside openings of the 4-Way Tee base holes one at a time and re-insert pipe. Repeat at elbows. PVC cement sets fast, so make sure your elbow is pointing the right direction!
  10. Cap ends of feet
  11. Repeat steps 1-10 for opposite wing
Assembly
  1. Hold PVC Lattice on frame
  2. Mark points where lattice contacts wing frame and drill pilot holes with 5/64" bit
  3. Hold PVC Lattice to frame and mark through pilot holes onto frame.
  4. Drill pilot holes in frame with 5/64" bit
  5. Attach lattice to frame with screws, corners first
Optional
  1. Place wing on flat surface and use tape measure and marker to mark height(s) for Jump Cups
    Height marks should be 1¼" below your desired jump height
  2. Line "sighting hole" in Jump Cup to your height mark
  3. Mark the two hanger holes in the Jump Cup onto your standard
  4. Drill pilot hole(s) with 5/64" bit in the two corner holes
  5. Attach Jump Cup with screws
